Erik ten Hag failed to sign Hakim Ziyech?
Manchester United reportedly blocked manager Erik ten Hag from reuniting with Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech this summer.
The Red Devils bolstered their wide attacking department with Antony, but Ten Hag was also keen on landing Ziyech from the Blues.
The Dutchman had an excellent relationship with the winger when they were together at Ajax, but a move did not materialise.
According to The Mirror, the 52-year-old had asked for the Moroccan's services, but the request was vetoed by the hierarchy.
Ziyech has been hugely frustrating since his move to Chelsea two years ago, and the hierarchy were not convinced over the signing.
Despite the setback, Ten Hag recently said that he is pleased with the transfer business, having signed most of his targets.
The likes of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Antony were all recruited under his recommendation.
He could not bring Ziyech on board before the deadline, but the Dutchman now has a quality squad at his disposal for the campaign.
