Arsenal reportedly made a late attempt to sign Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres before the summer transfer deadline.

The Gunners were keen on bolstering their wide attacking options on deadline day and El Nacional claim that a formal bid was made for Torres.

The north London giants placed a €30m offer on the table for the Spaniard, but Barcelona were not willing to lose him at such a short notice.

Xavi Hernandez had several attacking options after the addition of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, but still preferred to keep the Spaniard.

Torres moved to Camp Nou from Manchester City during the second half of last season, and he registered seven goals and six assists from 26 games.

However, he has played just 99 minutes this campaign with no goal contributions. Torres could push for an exit at the turn of the year.

Aside from Torres, the Gunners were keen on landing Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but were put off by the €60m fee.
