Reece James signs new long-term Chelsea contract
Chelsea defender Reece James has put pen-to-paper on a new six-year contract with the club.
The England international has been a superb performer for the Blues over the past few years, and he has now penned a renewal.
James will reportedly earn £250,000-a-week with the extension thus making him the highest-paid defender in the club's history.
Aside from James, the Blues are also keen on committing Mason Mount to an improved deal and talks are ongoing with his agents.
Mount refused the club's previous proposal of around £150,000-a-week, and the Blues are now expected to make a renewed offer.
The 23-year-old was the Blues' best goal contributor last term with 13 goals and 16 assists. He has yet to open his tally this time around.
Despite his slow start to the season, the hierarchy rate him very highly and want to extend his current deal expiring in the summer of 2024.
Blues goalkeeper Edouard Mendy could also be rewarded with an improved salary despite his inconsistent run of league form this campaign.
