Chelsea handed big boost in sporting director search
Chelsea have been handed a big boost in signing Christoph Freund as their new sporting director.
Freund has been RB Salzburg's sporting director for the past seven years, and he still has four years remaining on his contract.
The 45-year-old has been credited with unearthing the brightest young talents such as Erling Haaland. He could soon join Chelsea.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is seriously considering Freund for the sporting role, and the latter has now opened the door for the switch.
Speaking to Sky Sport Austria, he refused to rule out a move to Stamford Bridge by saying that he can't predict his long-term future.
He said: "You should never rule anything out in football and Chelsea are such a huge club. But I'm sports director in Salzburg and I really enjoy it.
"Chelsea is a huge club in transition. I can't say exactly what will happen in the next few weeks and months."
Aside from Freund, the Blues are also weighing up a move for Luis Campos, who is currently employed at Paris Saint-Germain as an advisor.
