Flamengo midfielder Joao Gomes has opened the door to join Liverpool during the January transfer window.

The Reds were determined to land a new midfielder before the summer transfer deadline, and they eventually signed Arthur on loan from Juventus.

The midfielder has yet to make his full debut for the club, but it has been reported that manager Jurgen Klopp does not like the look of him in training.

Arthur's loan deal could be terminated as early as January. The Reds could then focus on signing Gomes, who seems very keen on joining them.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, he said: "Liverpool are a team I’d play for. I have the greatest desire to play. Playing in the Champions League is my biggest dream in football."

The Reds have made a poor start to the current Premier League campaign. They have accumulated just nine points from their first six matches.

Klopp will be hoping for a turnaround in fortunes after the international break, but he may also insist on pursuing a better midfielder in January.
