Chelsea handed midfielder contract blow?
Chelsea have suffered a blow in convincing midfielder N'Golo Kante to sign a new long-term contract, as per football.london.
The Frenchman has been pivotal to the Blues' success over the past six years, and continues to remain a key player.
However, he could walk out on a free transfer when his current contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
The Blues obviously want to prevent the situation, but they are yet to persuade the World Cup winner to agree terms.
The west London giants have offered Kante with a new two-year deal with the option to extend for another 12 months.
This has been rejected by the Frenchman, who is eyeing a contract similar to new signing Kalidou Koulibaly (four years).
Fresh talks could be held in the coming weeks, but Kante can now control his future by signing a pre-contract elsewhere.
Paris Saint-Germain have been closely following him for years, and they could attempt to take advantage of the situation.
