Gabriel Martinelli asking £200k-a-week for Arsenal extension?

Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli has reportedly stunned the club's hierarchy with his wage demands for a new contract.

The Brazilian has been in top form for the north London giants this campaign, registering four goals and two assists in the Premier League.

This has led to suggestions that the club could hand him an improved deal, but they have hit a road block after the player's hefty demands.

Martinelli is presently on around £90,000-a-week and he is said to be eyeing in the region of £200,000-a-week to pen a contract extension.

The Gunners are unlikely to meet his requirements and it remains to be seen whether they can negotiate a lesser figure going forward.

Martinelli currently has less than two years left on his existing Gunners deal, but the club have the option to extend his stay for 12 months.

Hence, they are not in a desperation stage regarding his future, but the lack of progress could tempt them to sanction his possible exit.
