Jorginho makes Chelsea contract decision

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is reluctant to pen a new contract unless the Blues meet his current salary demands, as per Standard Sport.

The Italian has been a mainstay for the west London giants over the past four years, making over 200 appearances in all competitions.

The hierarchy still value his presence in the team, but there is currently a disagreement over the salary package for a new deal beyond June 2023.

Jorginho is presently on £120,000-a-week and he is said to be eyeing at least £150,000-a-week to commit his long-term future.

However, the Blues are not willing to meet his demands. The London giants prefer to extend his stay on the current contract terms.

As a result, there has been an impasse in negotiations and only time will tell whether the Blues can persuade the player to stay.

Juventus and Barcelona are keeping tabs on him. They could negotiate a pre-contract in January ahead of a free transfer next summer.
