Sir Alex Ferguson explains how he would deal with Ronaldo rift
Sir Alex Ferguson explains how he would deal with Ronaldo rift
Cristiano Ronaldo trudged off down the tunnel with a minute to go before the end of Man Utd's victory over Tottenham this week, and former manager Sir Alex Ferguson has explained how he would deal with the Portuguese star's current issues at Old Trafford. Sir Alex coached Cristiano during his first spell at Manchester United.
After the game, Erik Ten Hag told reporters of Ronaldo's behaviour: "He (Ronaldo) was there, I have seen him but I didn't speak. I will deal with that tomorrow not today."
Sir Alex famously wrote in his autobiography regarding the behaviour of another star player, David Beckham, which ultimately would lead to the player's exit to Real Madrid. Ferguson wrote: "The minute a Manchester United player thought he was bigger than the manager, he had to go."
At this time, it is unclear as to where Ronaldo could end up. He had been seeking a Champions League club to move to during the summer, but nobody could afford the player's salary.
Former club Sporting Lisbon have been linked with a return move for the Portugal national team's record breaking goalscorer.
