Arsenal favourites to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk

Arsenal are deemed favourites to land Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk when the transfer window reopens.

The Gunners were hot on the trail of the Ukrainian back in the summer, but were unwilling to meet the price tag for his services.

The north London club explored a deal worth £25 million for him but Shakhtar made it clear that they wanted at least £40 million.

Shakhtar's stance has not changed ahead of the New Year but The Mail claim that the Gunners could make a renewed move for him.

The Gunners have stayed top of the Premier League after 11 match days and they are currently two points ahead of holders Manchester City.

However, they need more squad depth to stay in the title race and it is claimed that Mikel Arteta could be backed with winter signings.

Mudryk was a player that Arteta wanted to bolster the wide attacking positions and the hierarchy could make an improved bid this winter.
