Chelsea eyeing new deal for Jorginho

Chelsea are hopeful of finalising a new long-term contract with midfielder Jorginho, according to Standard Sport.

The Italian has entered the final year of his contract with the London giants and the club have yet to convince him over a renewal.

Jorginho is said to be eyeing a 20 per cent hike on his £120,000-a-week wages and so far, the hierarchy have refused to meet his demands.

Despite this, the Blues have not given up on keeping him and reports claim that they will try again before the turn of the year.

Jorginho won't be at the World Cup after Italy failed to qualify and the Blues have time on their hands to convince him this winter.

If they fail to do so by January, the midfielder would be free to negotiate terms with foreign clubs. Juventus and Barcelona are keen.

They have been long-term admirers of his services and could capitalise if the Blues are not able to persuade him to extend his stay.
