Man Utd star ready to accept massive pay-cut?

De Gea ready to sign new deal with pay-cut

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly prepared to accept a massive pay-cut to sign a new contract.

The Spaniard has been with the Red Devils since the summer of 2011 but it is unclear whether he will be at the club next season.

De Gea's current £375,000-a-week deal expires next summer and the club have yet to activate the 12-month extension clause.

Instead of triggering the option, they are prepared to negotiate a new long-term deal with De Gea with a 50 per cent pay-cut.

The Spaniard has no concerns in accepting such a proposal, but the final decision will be left to head coach Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag has recently praised De Gea for his improved performances. He started the season with a couple of poor displays.

The 31-year-old has looked more confident on the ball in recent weeks while he has also been willing to come out of his box.

It remains to be seen whether the Spaniard stays with United.
