Man Utd remain keen on landing Cody Gakpo
Manchester United are still in the race to sign PSV Eindhoven's Cody Gakpo, according to ESPN.
The 23-year-old recently revealed that he spoke to manager Erik ten Hag over a possible summer move to Old Trafford.
United had identified him as a top target for the summer, but they eventually prioritised a deal for Ajax winger Antony.
Antony has proved a good acquisition for the club, but they could still return for Gakpo when the transfer window reopens.
According to ESPN, Gakpo is eyeing a high-profile transfer this winter after rejecting deadline day moves to Leeds and Southampton.
It is added that United continue to remain his preferred destination and the club could make a renewed attempt to sign him in January.
Gakpo has made 26 goal contributions in the current campaign and only Erling Braut Haaland has fared better than him in Europe.
PSV wanted around €40 million for him over the summer, but they are now likely to command in excess of €50m for his services.
