Arsenal want to sign Youri Tielemans in January?

Arsenal are reportedly in pole position to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans during the January transfer window.

The Belgian was touted to join the Gunners in the last transfer window, but the club were put off by the Foxes' price tag.

The Foxes wanted around £40m for the 25-year-old despite knowing that he had entered the final year of his contract.

According to Sport, the Gunners are ready to try again for Tielemans in January as they look to beat off competition.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are aiming to sign him for free next summer but Arsenal are ready to scupper their plans.

Mikel Arteta has urged the hierarchy to make a fresh approach, having already agreed terms with the versatile midfielder.

Tielemans has already given the green light for the transfer and it is up to the Gunners to convince the Foxes over a deal.

It may take around £20m to prise him away from the Midlands outfit.
