Arsenal favourites to sign Chelsea target Denzel Dumfries?

Arsenal have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries in January.

The Netherlands international is currently in his second season at Inter. He has registered two goals and three assists from 20 appearances.

Dumfries is considered as a key player within the squad, but it is claimed that he could be sold in January in order to balance the books.

Chelsea have been long-term admirers of the right wing-back, but Calciomercatoweb report that Arsenal are now favourites to sign him.

They have reportedly made an offer of around €31 million for the Dutchman. Chelsea are yet to make a formal bid of their own.

Arsenal currently have Ben White, Cedric Soares and Takehiro Tomiyasu as their right-back options. The latter has also played on the opposite end.

There appears no need for another option in the squad. In our view, Dumfries could be seen as a winger with his excellent attacking attributes.
