Madrid enter Gakpo pursuit

Real Madrid have reportedly entered the race to sign Manchester United target Cody Gakpo in January.

The Dutchman has been superb for PSV this campaign, registering 13 goals and 17 assists from just 24 matches.

He was also excellent for his country at the World Cup with three goals and this has caught the eye of several clubs.

United are keen on landing his services this winter, but The Mirror claim that Madrid could offer stiff competition.

The European champions are ready to step up their pursuit of the 23-year-old, having been impressed by his World Cup displays.

Gakpo is currently undecided over his future, but PSV are quite clear that they won't sell him cheaply next month.

The player's asking price has been ever-increasing and they are now eyeing close to €75 million to sanction his sale.

Aside from United and Madrid, Liverpool could offer competition as well after the long-term injury for Luis Diaz.

Diaz has been ruled out until March after a knee surgery.
