Leeds United have opened what is likely to be a busy January transfer window with the signing of Max Wober from Red Bull Salzburg in a deal worth an estimated 12 million euros. The Austrian international has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the Elland Road outfit, and comes at the recommendation of former RB Salzburg manager and current Leeds boss Jesse Marsch.

He moves to Leeds to play once more with former Red Bull Salzburg duo Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen, and is likely to be an important member of the club's first team for the second half of the league season.

Wober played previously for Rapid Vienna in Austria before a move to Dutch giants Ajax followed. A short stint with Sevilla would pave the way for a transfer to Austria, and at RB Salzburg Wober went on to play 81 domestic appearances, scoring five goals.

It is understood that Wober is likely to take the place of either Robin Koch or Liam Cooper at the heart of the Leeds United defence, which has so far shipped 29 goals this season, the fourth worst in the Premier League.
