Chelsea confirm loan signing of Joao Felix

Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix on a short-term loan until the end of the season.

The Portuguese star was touted to leave the Spanish giants throughout December and he has now signed for the London giants.

The Blues have agreed to sign him for €11m and they will be covering his weekly wages for the remainder of the campaign.

Felix told Chelseafc.com: "Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives, so I am very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge."

Before leaving for the Blues, Felix penned a new Atletico contract until June 2027 and he could still have a future at the club.

The 23-year-old fell out with manager Diego Simeone this term but there are suggestions that the Argentine could leave in the summer.

If that happens, Felix could well continue with the Spanish giants. Otherwise, he could push for a permanent exit in July.
