Chelsea, Newcastle and Barcelona in race for Dortmund youngster

Youssoufa Moukoko news

Youngster Moukoko wanted by trio

Barcelona, Chelsea and Newcastle are all set to do battle to sign 18-year-old starlet Youssoufa Moukoko during the January transfer window, with a plan to revisit a deal in the summer should a contract fail to be agreed this month. The Germany international, who has appeared twice for the national team, has caught the eye at Dortmund and already played 44 times in the Bundesliga, scoring an impressive 11 goals.

Moukoko only turned 18 two months ago and has demonstrated his limitless potential at Dortmund already, a club known for finding and developing the best young talent in Europe.

It is understood that Newcastle's board are prepared to pay whatever it takes to sign Moukoko, and partner the striker with Alexander Isak from next season.

Barcelona are also not to be ruled out. Despite having financial problems, it is understood the club are ready to take out further loans to sign the Cameroon-born attacker, and will also look to sell some familiar faces to fund a purchase.

On the other hand, Chelsea do appear to be in third place to sign the forward, having agreed a deal for Joao Felix on loan and with the club's continued pursuit of Ukraine international attacker Mykhaylo Mudryk. The Blues still have a budget of close to £90 million to spend, but it is unclear if Moukoko is preferred to Mudryk.
