Leeds United have agreed personal terms with USA international midfielder Weston McKennie, as the Premier League side look to wrap up a deal before the January transfer window draws to a close. The Juventus midfielder is currently in England, expecting to make a transfer this week.

Arsenal director of football Edu had been expected to make an offer for McKennie, who was hugely impressive during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, however it is understood the Gunners have other alternatives that they will sign in the summer instead.

Leeds United are therefore in pole position, and Jesse Marsch is hoping that his American connections will be able to persuade McKennie that a transfer to Elland Road is the right move at this stage of the player's career. McKennie is valued by Juventus at around £30 million.

Juventus need to sell players to generate funds, and McKennie will be allowed to leave the club that he joined only in 2021. McKennie previously spent four years with Schalke 04, playing 75 Bundesliga games. At Juve, McKennie has 49 Serie A appearances.
