Chelsea tried to sign Sofyan Amrabat?
Chelsea reportedly attempted to sign Sofyan Amrabat during the closing stages of the January transfer window.
The Moroccan had a superb World Cup campaign and it was widely anticipated that he would leave Fiorentina.
However, the Florence outfit made it clear that he would not be sold in January and they stood by their stance throughout.
Barcelona failed with a loan proposal with an option to buy and it is now reported that Chelsea were also keen on him.
According to New York Times, it is revealed that the Blues were also in the mix but Fiorentina did not buckle under pressure.
They priced the London giants out of a transfer and are now expected to re-assess the midfielder's situation during the summer.
Amrabat has his sights on joining Barcelona but a transfer could depend on whether they are willing to pay most of the fee up front.
The midfielder has also been on the radar of Liverpool lately.
