Man Utd told to pay €35m to sign Euro 2024 midfielder

Fofana to Man Utd soon?

Manchester United will have to pay €35 million to sign AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Red Devils are in the transfer market for a new defensive midfielder and they have already agreed personal terms with PSG's Manuel Ugarte.

However, a deal does not appear straightforward for the Uruguayan, considering PSG are reluctant to lower their €70 million price tag.

This could urge them to look elsewhere and Di Marzio claims that United have thrown their name into the hat to sign Fofana from Monaco.

Atletico Madrid have also joined the race for the Frenchman, who has resulted in his price tag increasing from €17 million to €35 million.

Milan were hoping to sign Fofana on the cheap with the lack of interest, but the Rossoneri have now decided to look at alternative options.

It remains to be seen whether United make a move for the former Strasbourg man, who is in the final year of his contract at Monaco.
