Arsenal keeping tabs on Real Sociedad star

Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi ahead of a possible summer move.

The Gunners were eager to land the Spain international last month, but the midfielder had no plans of leaving Sociedad.

Zubimendi was reluctant to part ways midway through the season, considering his club are aiming to finish in the top four.

Despite his snub, the Gunners continue to monitor him closely and it is claimed that manager Mikel Arteta is a big fan.

Furthermore, they are prepared to step up their interest when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.

Zubimendi currently has a release clause worth €60m in his contract and Sociedad could hold out for the same price.

Arsenal are aiming to sign a marquee midfielder this summer and it remains to be seen whether Zubimendi is the main target.

West Ham United's Declan Rice has been highlighted as a top target over the past few days. He could be available for €100m.
