Chelsea confirm new contract for Thiago Silva

Chelsea have confirmed that Thiago Silva has put pen-to-paper on a new contract for the 2023/24 season.

The Brazilian joined the Blues on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and he has since been a key player for them.

Despite being 38, Silva continues to remain an undisputed starter and he has been earning plaudits from the fans regularly.

Hence, it was a no-brainer to prolong his stay and he has now penned an extension to keep him at the club for next season.

Silva told the club's official website: "I am honestly so happy to continue my career. When I signed my first contract here, it was to just do one year."

"Now it is already the fourth! I could not have imagined that, but really it is a very special moment for me to sign and stay at Chelsea."

Silva has shown no signs of slowing down and the Brazilian star will be hoping to end his career on a high with the Blues.

It is widely expected that he will retire from the game following next season with the Blues already planning for the future.
