Mikel Arteta provides fresh update on Gabriel Jesus
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a fresh update on Gabriel Jesus ahead of the Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
The Brazilian star has not played for the Gunners since November, having picked up a knee injury during the World Cup campaign.
He has yet to make his comeback following a successful operation and Arteta has refused to provide an exact timescale for his return.
Speaking to reporters today, he said: "He’s not far now. I don’t want to give a timeline but he’s doing certain things with the team and certain things outside the team. He’s not very close but he’s not far at all."
In the absence of Jesus, Eddie Nketiah initially stepped up for the Gunners up front and lately, Leandro Trossard has also been impressive.
The Gunners are currently five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the league and will be hoping to extend the gap tomorrow.
City host Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium in Saturday's early kick-off before the Gunners entertain the Cherries at home.
