Man Utd handed boost in signing David de Gea replacement
Manchester United have been handed a boost in signing Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa at the end of the season.
The Portuguese has been heavily linked with the Mancunian giants since last summer and he could make the switch soon.
According to Record, Porto need €50m to balance their books by June and this could urge them to part ways with Costa.
Costa currently has a €75m release clause in his deal, but United could land him for less due to Porto's financial woes.
David de Gea has been an undisputed starter in goal for United over the years, but they could start looking into the future.
The Spaniard does not suit manager Erik ten Hag with his average distribution and Costa would be a solid upgrade.
Even if Costa arrives this summer, United plan to keep hold of De Gea and talks are underway over a fresh deal with him.
They are ready to hand him a renewal with a huge pay-cut.
