Newcastle United set sights on signing former Chelsea defender

Newcastle United have their sights on signing former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen from Barcelona this summer.

The Denmark international joined the Blaugrana on a free transfer last summer and he has been a key player for them this term.

Despite this, there is speculation over his future and Sport claim that the Magpies are interested in bringing him back to England.

Barcelona are not actively looking to part ways with Christensen but it is claimed that their financial situation could lead to his summer exit.

The Catalan giants are prepared to lose his services for the right price and it remains to be seen whether the Magpies can convince them.

Aside from Christensen, the Blaugrana have opened the door to offload Ferran Torres, who arrived from Manchester City 14 months ago.

Torres has seen limited playing time in the current campaign and he could be sold for a fee in the region of £50m in the next transfer window.
