Arsenal and Man Utd target set to sign new contract

Arsenal and Manchester United target Marco Asensio is set to sign a new long-term contract at Real Madrid.

The Spaniard has experienced a difficult season with the European champions and he has played just 1,400 minutes in all competitions.

Despite this, he has managed 14 goal contributions for the club and he is now prepared to sign another long-term deal.

Asensio has been largely on the bench for Los Blancos this term and it was speculated that he could leave for free.

His current deal expires in June and The Athletic reveal that he is expected to commit to Madrid for another four years.

The news will come as a potential blow for Arsenal and United, who have been long-term admirers of the Spaniard.

Arsenal have been in contact with his agent in recent weeks while United have been linked with him every now and then.

The duo may have to look elsewhere to bolster their attack. Asensio is happy at Madrid despite his reduced first-team role.
