Chelsea handed big boost in signing French star
Chelsea have been handed a big boost in signing Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier this summer.
The Blues are expected to pursue another shot-stopper in the next transfer window with Edouard Mendy set to leave the club.
Meslier has been identified as the prime target and Football Insider claim that the Frenchman wants to leave the Whites this summer.
It is added that the 23-year-old will stick with the same stance even if Leeds manage to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The news will come as a huge boost for the Blues, who are prepared to hand Meslier the number one role ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Arrizabalaga has put up some stand-out displays since the World Cup but the Spaniard has been poor when it comes to handling long shots.
Leeds are likely to demand around £40 million for Meslier, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal previously.
Arsenal no longer require a new goalkeeper but United could revive their interest depending on the opinion of manager Erik ten Hag.
