Five clubs make bid for Southampton forward Sekou Mara
Championship side Southampton have received multiple bids for French under-21 striker Five clubs make bid for Southampton forward Sekou Mara, with Marseille and Monaco of Ligue 1 having their initial bids rejected. Premier League trio Luton Town, Everton and Burnley have also made initial offers for the talented forward.
Mara came through the ranks at Paris St Germain before a transfer to Bordeaux. Having spent one season with Bordeaux's B team, a debut in 2022 arrived and a further 34 Ligue 1 top flight games followed, with 7 goals.
Southampton were sufficiently impressed last summer to pay around 12 million euros for Mara, offering a four year deal to the striker.
Now the club see Mara's value to have doubled, and despite the club's best efforts to keep the striker at St Mary's, the interest of the Premier League and his home country is sure to unsettle the forward.
Southampton manager Russell Martin has guaranteed regular first-team action ahead of the new year, but Mara is more interested in a move away from the Saints. The Saints value Mara at around £20 million at this time.
