Chelsea confirm signing of French defender
Chelsea have confirmed the purchase of AS Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi on a long-term contract.
The Blues recently suffered a huge setback with Wesley Fofana suffering a serious knee injury in training.
The Frenchman underwent a surgery for the game, and he is expected to be sidelined for months.
As a result, the club needed cover in central defence and they have decided to sign Disasi from Monaco.
The former Reims man was on the radar of Manchester United and Newcastle United earlier this summer.
It was anticipated that one of them could land his signature, but the Blues beat them to his services.
Disasi is a strong physical defender with an aerial presence. He is also good in terms of ball progression.
He should be ideally suited for the Premier League. The Blues will be hoping that he adapts quickly.
Chelsea host Liverpool in their first game of the new season next weekend. Disasi could make his debut.
