Man Utd submit offer for Marc Cucurella
25-year-old defender Marc Cucurella is a shock transfer target for Manchester United, as the left-back looks set to leave Chelsea despite only recently arriving at Stamford Bridge from Brighton and Hove Albion. The Spaniard, who is also comfortable playing as a centre-back, could move to United on a loan deal, but the Blues would prefer a permanent transfer away for the wing-back.
According to Fabrizio Romano, representatives of Cucurella have been in talks with Manchester United and both parties are confident a deal will be reached before the end of the transfer window.
Cucurella has played for multiple teams in his short career, starting off at Espanyol, before a four year stint with Barcelona. A short stint at Ajax's youth team followed, before returning to Barca. Cucurella also enjoyed two loan spells with Eibar and Getafe, with the latter signing the defender on a permanent basis. After just one year with Brighton, Chelsea were convinced enough to pay £55 million. After 24 games, the club appear convinced that the time is right to let Cucurella leave.
Man Utd's defence this year has so far struggled, and Erik Ten Hag sees Cucurella as a useful option before the transfer window slams shut.
