Lukaku set for AS Roma

AS Roma are to secure a loan transfer deal to sign Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku on a temporary basis for the 2023/24 campaign; as the player leaves Chelsea and returns to Serie A for another season. Lukaku helped Inter Milan to the Champions League final last season, but the team opted not to sign the forward on a permanent basis.

Jose Mourinho believes that Lukaku will be an excellent addition to his side this season, as he seeks to bolster his attack with guaranteed experience in the burly forward.

A return of 10 goals in 25 Serie A games has persuaded Roma to make their own swoop this season, as the 30-year-old seeks another a fresh in Italy.

Lukaku, who is one of the most expensive players of all time, struggled in his Chelsea return and is said to be furious with the Blues that they failed to live up to their own promise of guaranteed first-team football.

With 75 goals in 108 games for Belgium, Roma will be signing one of Europe's most prolific marksmen.
