Man Utd make contact offer to Barcelona defender
Manchester United have proposed to sign Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso with a lucrative contract offer, according to Marca.
The Spain international has entered the last year of his contract at Barcelona, and United are keen to sign him on a season-long loan.
The Red Devils are currently short in the left-back department this season following injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
They are prepared to guarantee Alonso with a starting role, and are also willing to hand him a one-year deal after his loan spell.
Alonso has yet to make a decision over his future, but could be tempted to return to the Premier League after his fine spell at Chelsea.
The 32-year-old was a good contributor of goals and assists for the Blues. He would be a quality short-term signing for United too.
Aside from Alonso, the Red Devils have also been linked with Marc Cucurella and Sergio Reguilon over the past two days.
If Barcelona are reluctant to sanction Alonso's loan exit, United could focus on signing one of those those players before the deadline.
