Chelsea boss confirms ankle injury for midfielder
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that midfielder Romeo Lavia sustained an ankle injury in training.
The Belgian joined the Blues from Southampton for £58m last month, but did not feature for the club due to limited fitness.
He was anticipated to make his debut after the international break, but that won't happen after picking up an ankle issue.
Pochettino confirmed the same during today's press conference and added that the club are set to assess him on Monday.
He said: "Yes, I think it is really disappointing because he was training really well last week in the international break."
"He twists his ankle and we are waiting until Monday for the doctor. We hope it is not a big issue but in the last week, he cannot train with the team."
Chelsea have had an injury-plagued start to the new season, and they are already missing several high-profile players.
Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana are out with long-term injuries while Reece James is nursing a short-term one.
