Jurgen Klopp confirms injury blow for two Liverpool stars

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on Cody Gakpo and Thiago Alcantara ahead of the Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Merseyside outfit were unbeaten in the top-flight campaign until last weekend where they suffered a 2-1 loss at Tottenham Hotspur. They were unlucky after being denied a clear goal by VAR.

They are now scheduled to face the Seagulls on the road and ahead of the game, Klopp has confirmed that Gakpo will remain on the sidelines with a knee injury picked up against Spurs last weekend.

Gakpo has had his knee brace removed and Klopp believes he could return after the international break. The same is expected to be the case for Thiago after he suffered another setback in his recovery.

The Spaniard underwent an operation for a hip injury last season but he has yet to make a complete recovery. He has suffered two setbacks and could take longer to make his first appearance this term.
