Man Utd made move to sign PSG attacker
Manchester United made an approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Xavi Simons during the recent summer transfer window.
The Red Devils were on the hunt for a wide player over the summer, but they failed to pursue a suitable signing before the transfer deadline.
It is now revealed that United were interested in a deal for Simons, but Paris Saint-Germain were simply not keen on selling him permanently.
The French champions re-signed the youngster from PSV Eindhoven earlier this summer after triggering the buy-back clause available to them.
As part of the deal, PSG are not permitted to sell the player until January of 2025 or else, PSV will be entitled to the entire transfer fee received.
As a result, United had no chance of convincing Les Parisiens into a permanent deal. Simons eventually made the loan move to Leipzig.
The Bundesliga giants are prepared to extend his loan stay for another year and may attempt to sign him on a permanent basis in the long-term.
