Chelsea make contact with Sporting over 25yo striker

Chelsea have made contact with Sporting Lisbon over a January transfer for Viktor Gyokeres.

The Blues have struggled in the centre-forward department this term. Nicolas Jackson has eight goals, but he has missed several clear-cut chances.

Christopher Nkunku's injury return is a huge boost for them, but they need more quality in order to qualify for European football next season.

It is now reported that the west London giants have their sights on landing Gyokeres from Sporting, but he is unlikely to come on the cheap.

The Swede has been in stellar form for the Portuguese giants this term and he has bagged 17 goals and eight assists from just 20 appearances.

Sporting are desperate to keep for the rest of the campaign at least and won't accept anything less than his €100m release clause to sell him this winter.

Chelsea are known for spending huge fees on top-class recruits, but they may not afford him without player sales due to FFP concerns.
