Casemiro to leave for free?

Manchester United are ready to release Casemiro from his contract by the summer, according to Daily Star.

The 31-year-old has hardly impressed for the Red Devils in his second season and he has only recently returned from a hamstring injury.

With the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro is no longer guaranteed his spot in the number six role under manager Erik ten Hag.

Hence, his days are limited at the club and reports claim that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has his sights on taking the midfielder off the wage bill.

Casemiro and Raphael Varane are the highest earners at £350,000-a-week and both of them could be on their way out in the summer.

Varane's deal expires at the end of the campaign. Casemiro could be handed a huge pay-off of around £20 million to head for the exit door.

Ratcliffe's new management believe future transfer signings could ask for parity in term of wages. Keeping Casemiro and Varane won't be good for the club if they want to progress in the coming seasons.
