Arsenal defender out of country's squad with injury

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has been withdrawn from the Brazil squad after picking up an injury.

The centre-back has been a mainstay in the line-up for the Gunners since September and he has formed a brilliant partnership with William Saliba.

Gabriel's form has been exceptional since the turn of the year. He has made several goal contributions while standing out defensively as well.

He was recently called up by Brazil for the friendlies against England and Spain, but has now been withdrawn as a result of an injury.

The nature of the setback is unknown, but Arsenal fans will be hoping that he recovers in time for the Premier League game at Manchester City.

The Gunners are just one point ahead of the Cityzens in the league standings and it is a must-win for the club to stay top of the table.

Liverpool are currently second only on goal difference. The Reds could leapfrog the Gunners if they were to drop points at the Etihad.
