Rio Ferdinand praises Mikel Arteta after Everton game
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta following the 2-1 Premier League win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners ended the season on a high with 89 points from 38 games, but it was not enough for the title. Manchester City finished two points ahead of them with a final day win over West Ham United.
Speaking after the game, Ferdinand said that Arsenal were a club lacking in belief for a long period of time, but Arteta has managed to change that and has got the fanbase completely believing in the team.
He said: "Arsenal were a club lacking in belief for a long period of time and Arteta has brought a lot of that back."
"He's got the fanbase completely believing - yes they've not hit some of the targets they came into the season with, but he's created a football team the fans want to stand by."
Arsenal have ended their season with their second highest ever points tally. Arteta will be determined to come back stronger next season with some more marquee summer acquisitions.
