Arsenal could prioritise a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer, according to Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners are expected to sign a new defensive midfielder this summer with the prospect of Thomas Partey heading for the exit door.

Partey has had numerous injury concerns over the years and the club have no plans of extending his contract beyond June 2025.

The Ghanaian is already on the radar of Turkish and Italian sides and it is claimed that he could be replaced by Zubimendi.

Zubimendi has been a long-term target for manager Mikel Arteta, but he has been unable to convince the Spaniard to leave Sociedad.

The 25-year-old has been content staying at the La Liga outfit, but he could leave this summer after their disappointing league season.

Arsenal could tempt him with the chance to play in the Champions League, but they could face competition from Bayern Munich.

Barcelona have also been long-term admirers, but their plans may change with the recent departure of manager Xavi Hernandez.
