Man Utd considering move for Bundesliga defender
Manchester United are considering a move for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Red Devils recently agreed personal terms with Everton's Martin Branthwaite and negotiations are underway with the Toffees.
However, a deal is far from straightforward for them. The Merseyside outfit are reluctant to sell him for anything less than £70m.
If the Toffees refuse to lower their demands, United could look at alternative options and De Ligt is one of the top names on the wishlist.
United manager Erik ten Hag previously managed De Ligt at Ajax and he continues to remain a huge admirer of his talents.
The Dutchman could be open to a reunion. A transfer could materialise for around £55m with Bayern aiming to recoup funds.
Bayern have just signed a new centre-back in Hiroki Ito. The club are also close to landing Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen.
De Ligt is the most likely candidate to leave them. United can capitalise on this situation by securing his services for a discount.
