Arsenal beat Chelsea in race to sign 22yo star
Arsenal have beaten competition from Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen to sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Gunners have been hot on the trail of the 22-year-old over the past few days and they have now agreed personal terms over a long-term deal.
Corriere dello Sport now claim that the club are in advanced negotiations with Bologna and have pulled clear of the likes of Chelsea and Leverkusen.
A package worth €50m has been discussed between the clubs and talks are now underway over the payment terms and inclusion of add-ons.
Calafiori looks set to become Arsenal's second signing of the summer after David Raya was signed on a permanent basis from Brentford after his loan stint.
The Gunners are preparing for a busy summer transfer window and there could be plenty of more signings between now and the transfer deadline on August 30.
Arsenal are eyeing a marquee striker, central midfielder and a wide player. A goalkeeper could also be signed if Aaron Ramsdale heads for the exit door.
