Manchester United have submitted an opening bid worth £38 million to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer.

The Uruguayan had an average debut season with the French champions. He lost his starting spot during the back end of the campaign.

Ugarte was an unused substitute on 14 occasions and he is now keen on restarting his career away from manager Luis Enrique.

Le 10 Sport now claim that the Red Devils have made the first move for Ugarte, who is also on the radar of Barcelona and Manchester City.

The club have made an offer of £38m plus add-ons for the 23-year-old, who is open to the possibility of moving to the Premier League.

Ugarte was a top transfer target for Chelsea last summer. He turned down their advances to make the move to PSG from Sporting.

The decision has not proved worthwhile with Enrique's lack of trust and he may want to play for another club with assured starts.
