French club make first offer to sign Arsenal striker
French giants Marseille have made their first proposal to sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah this summer, according to Caught Offside.
The Ligue 1 outfit have been busy during the early part of the summer and they recently agreed to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United for €35 million.
It is now reported that Les Phoceens have proposed to sign Nketiah for a transfer fee of around €20m. The offer has already been turned down by Mikel Arteta's side.
Arsenal are aware of the high-profile interest in Nketiah in the current transfer window. West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham are among his long-term admirers.
Hence, they are reluctant to let him go on the cheap. The hierarchy are set to hold out for at least €35m for Nketiah, who was largely a back-up striker for the club in the previous season.
The 25-year-old has opened the door to leaving the Gunners for a new challenge, but he is unlikely to force through an exit. He is prepared to wait patiently for the club's decision.
