Arsenal plotting move to sign Euro 2024 winner
Arsenal are weighing up an approach to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino this summer, according to The Telegraph.
The Gunners have had a quiet phase in the summer transfer window, but they are expected to speed up the process in the coming weeks.
The club are determined to land at least one midfielder and it is reported that Merino is one of the top priorities for Mikel Arteta.
The Spaniard has been with Sociedad for the past six seasons, but he seems prepared for a new challenge away from La Liga.
He has previously spoken about his desire of returning to the Premier League, having had a forgettable spell with Newcastle.
The Euro 2024 winner has entered the final year of his contract at the Basque outfit and reports claim that he could be signed for only £20 million.
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are also interested in his services, but Arteta has already held secret talks to convince Merino, as per AS.
