Arsenal agree deal to sign 18yo wonderkid from Ajax
Arsenal have secured an agreement to sign 18-year-old goalkeeper Tommy Setford from Ajax, according to David Ornstein
The Gunners have had a quiet transfer window thus far and they have yet to sign an outfield player. The trend looks set to continue.
The club have already signed goalkeepers Lucas Nygaard and David Raya on permanent deals and Setford is the next in line.
The north London giants opened talks with Ajax for Setford earlier this week and they have now finalised a deal worth €1m plus add-ons.
Setford is set to undergo his medical next week before penning a four-year contract. There will be an option for another 12 months.
The youngster is likely to be the regular goalkeeper for the academy next term ahead of Nygaard, who arrived from Nordsjaelland.
The young duo could travel with the Gunners for the pre-season tour of the United States with Raya and Aaron Ramsdale away on Euro 2024 duty.
Arsenal start their pre-season campaign against Bournemouth.
