Serie A star has turned down Chelsea for Arsenal

Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori has turned down Chelsea for a move to Arsenal this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio

The Italian star had a wonderful campaign with Bologna in Serie A last term. He formed a brilliant centre-back partnership with Jhon Lucumi.

The 22-year-old carried over his good form to the European Championship where he was one of the stand-out performers in the group stage.

Arsenal are currently in advanced talks with Bologna to sign him for around €50m, but they are yet to finalise the payment terms.

Amid the ongoing hold up, Di Marzio has clarified that the former Basel man only wants Arsenal and he has given his word to the Gunners.

Di Marzio added that there is no possibility of a hijack from Chelsea or any other club. He has turned down their advances for Mikel Arteta's side.

Calafiori is currently on vacation. He may not be involved in Arsenal's pre-season tour of the United States with the short turnover time.
