Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino has made the decision to join Arsenal amid interest from Chelsea and Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Gunners are eyeing a new midfielder in the current transfer window and they are very interested in landing Merino from Sociedad.

It is now reported that the club are prepared to pay the €30 million asking price and Merino also prefers a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

The playing style of manager Mikel Arteta suits him and it is only a matter of time before he makes the switch to the north London giants.

Arsenal are set for a busy end to the transfer window. Aside from a midfielder, they are eyeing another versatile winger and a marquee striker.

The club are interested in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, but the Spaniard is reportedly waiting for the final decision from Barcelona.

Elsewhere, the Gunners are keeping tabs on the recovery of Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres. They could make an approach in early August.
